When AP McCoy (now Sir AP McCoy) finally gave up race riding the sport of Horse Racing knew it would never be the same again. He was an iron man in the saddle and this book looks back at his wonderful career in racing. It’s really is a must-read for any racing fan.
With more than 4,300 winners to his name, McCoy seemed to be at the peak of his powers when he suddenly brought down the curtain on an extraordinary career.
In this book, he reflects upon his unparalleled career, taking the reader from his humble beginnings in County Antrim to the emotional day at Sandown when horse racing bade a tearful farewell to arguably its greatest ever star. McCoy relates in forensic detail the process that led to his decision to retire, recalls some of his greatest rides, lifts the lid on his family life and looks ahead to a future no longer driven by the constant pursuit of victory. The result is a remarkable insight into the private and public life of a true winner.
"AP" has some great stories and this book gives a brilliant insight into his life. He’s been through some very tough times and come out the other side – especially riding through pain that most people wouldn’t be able to get out of bed in. Once you start, it’s addictive.
In our opinion, its a great read, and it’s a must-read for anyone interested in the sport of kings. McCoy had such a brilliant career as well as going through pain, he worked every day of his life and the book brings out some excellent stories about racing.
